Reflecting on dad's advice

My dad is 66 years old and has overcome life's biggest challenges. Now he is helping me overcome my own set of challenges. The preferred method of assistance is through one liner advice. You know something is wrong when my dad gives these truth-bombs. 1. Ang Masama ay Iwaksi (Evil must be rejected). I believe this is mentioned when I'm doing things that are bad for me. For example, too much binging on food, or doing nothing, or getting angry. This is a wakeup call for me to strive on being good, and by doing good acts. There are so much evil and bad things in this world, and I wish not to be an addition to this. 2. Habang may hininga, may Pag-asa (When you're still breathing, there is still hope). So, this mantra gives me the motivation to start again, try again, not be bothered by ...

The Magic of the 90's Era

I have very vivid memories of my childhood in the 90's. First of all, you only have less than a dozen tv channels. So, everybody watches the same thing and talks about it at school the morning afterward. Parents usually watch the news, basketball, and Latin telenovelas. Boybands, Girl groups, Pop bands, that time was rich with culture and entertainment. Internet was still on its infancy stages, when it boomed in the lat...

Lessons from a phone repair

Today I went to an android phone repair shop to bring my old S20FE back to life again.  And behold, the repairman did not disappoint. Board level repair was made and battery replaced, now I got a more midrange phone for my daily needs. Which brings to today reflection points. 1. When you take care of things, they last. Sometimes, they take care of you too. Yes, I am guilty of not taking good care of my gadgets, but I realized that it's much better to maintain and take care of things, than to repair or replace them once they're broken. Let's take the legendary example, your own body. Feeding it with junk food, skip on your exercise routine and not making sleep your priority, will eventually take its toll, especially once you're in your 40s. Thus folks, take care of the big 3, diet, exercise, and most of all, sleep.  2. Don't be afraid to pay premium for excellent service. Pay peanuts, get monkey. This phone repair job costs me a little extra than what I expected, but...
